05Deadlines in criminal matters

Criminal cases run on short clocks. A notice of appeal in a federal criminal case is generally due within 14 days of the judgment, a New York criminal appeal within 30 days, and speedy trial, motion, and post-conviction deadlines run throughout a case. Deadlines vary by court and by matter. Reading this Site does not stop, pause, or extend any deadline that applies to you. 13Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site will be brought exclusively in the New York State courts sitting in Saratoga County or the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

14Severability and waiver

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

15Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date at the top. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
